The ALPS framework supports the major specialty classes, including but not limited to aviation, space, marine hull and liability, energy, casualty, and specialty property.
ALPS offers six core areas of functionality and analysis:

intelligent logic for naming issues, and automated integration of third party data. - Risk Model – Comprehensive capture of portfolio and underlying risk data whether insurance, reinsurance or retrocession.
- Event Set – Enables user-defined or generated event sets to be used in pricing and portfolio modeling.
The ALPS simulation engine uses integrated third party data to generate an event set and can be parameterised to reflect
user’s view of their risk. - Aggregate Management - calculating a company’s portfolio loss for a given market loss, taking into account all portfolio features,
erosion from actual losses, with results gross or net of outwards reinsurance and reinstatement premium. - Pricing - event set based simulation pricing which supports return on capital, or target loss ratio, rating methodologies.
- Portfolio Modelling - event set based simulation through the entire portfolio for use in reserving, forecasting,
planning, outwards reinsurance strategy, and capital management.
