Suki Basi, Managing Director Russell Group

Suki is the managing and founder director of Russell Group since 1994. In this role he is responsible for setting company strategy, building core competencies and ensuring business development, as well as managing business growth and value. He has had project experience in a variety of insurance and reinsurance lines namely, long-tail (asbestos, health hazard and pollution) reserving, aviation, space, offshore energy, marine hull and financial institutions and casualty. Previously, Suki worked for Oracle Corporation from 1989 to 1994, where he worked in project management, consulting and pre-sales across a number of industries including defence, energy, finance and healthcare both in the UK and USA.

Suki has a BSc (Hons) in Aeronautics from Manchester University, and after graduating in 1986 held a post-graduate mathematical modelling research post at Nottingham University which was sponsored by Rolls-Royce until 1989. Suki lives in Nottingham, is married with three children and enjoys time with family and friends, playing sport and watching his beloved Nottingham Forest.

Mark Howell, Finance Director Russell Group

Mark has been with Russell Group since 2007 and is responsible for the group’s finance, legal and operational activities.

Previously Mark worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers for 20 years, advising a wide range of owner-managed and PLC clients across many sectors, specialising in tax and corporate transactions. Mark also has wide experience as a company director in both IT and manufacturing companies. Mark has a law degree from the University of Nottingham and after graduating qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991. Married with two teenage children, Mark enjoys playing and watching sport, eating out and travelling.

Matthew Maddocks, Product Manager Russell Group

Mat has been with the Russell Group since July 2009, initially as a consultant but since April 2010 full-time as Product Manager. In this role he oversees the company’s schedule of product enhancements and new product developments, working closely with clients, and potential clients, to identify market requirements and deliver innovative solutions.

Previously Mat worked for ACE Tempest Re for 7 years as a Senior Underwriter with primary responsibility for the aviation treaty account, but also assisting in the underwriting and pricing of other classes of business including energy, marine, and casualty. Prior to this he worked in the Lloyd’s of London market for Beazley and Kiln. Mat has an MA from Jesus College, Cambridge University, in Law and Economics, a Diploma from Cass Business School, City University, in Actuarial Science, and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He has also been a Senior Examiner and Assessor for the Chartered Insurance Institute since 2007 (785 - Principles of Reinsurance and P97 -Reinsurance) and was author of the new course book for subject P91 - Aviation and Space Insurance. Mat lives in North London and in his spare time enjoys eating out, playing badminton, and skiing.

Roger Hulett, Sales Manager Russell Group

Roger joined the Russell Group as Sales Manager in August 2010 and is based in London. In his role he is responsible for sales of Russell Group products and services and for supporting the general growth of the business.

Roger has over twenty years experience in the London Insurance Market in various sales and marketing roles with Sherwood, Olympic and most recently Sword Intech, where he had responsibility for sales of policy administration and exposure aggregation and monitoring systems.

Roger has a post-graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Anglia University. Married with two children Roger lives in Essex and is a keen Sports supporter and golfer.
